Shōyō Hinata (Japanese: 日向 翔陽 Hinata Shōyō) was a Japanese volleyball player and older brother of Natsu Hinata. He was motivated to play volleyball after seeing Karasuno High player Tenma Udai (nicknamed the Little Giant) scoring many points against opponents far taller than him. At junior high, Hinata lost his first and only official match against Tobio Kageyama. Motivated to beat him, Hinata went to Karasuno High, only to find Kageyama also attending the school. Hinata and Kageyama learned to work together as a powerful duo, with Hinata as a middle blocker. After graduation, Hinata went to Brazil to train volleyball for two years, after which he returned to Japan and became a member of the MSBY Black Jackals. In 2021, Hinata played on the Japanese team at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. After that, he went back to Brazil, where he became a member of the team Asas São Paulo.
